“orange rumba” by Guy Begbie
GCCAR is very pleased to have Guy Begbie from the UK as a visiting artist/scholar April/May 2016, after his visit to the State Library of Queensland.
Guy is internationally recognised for his interdisciplinary practice as an artist, bookbinder & academic. With a core interest in parallels between historical bookbinding structures & architectural forms his work uses non-linear narratives to investigate the book in transition from 2D to 3D, alluding to ancient and modern spatial qualities in sites and buildings. He works in a variety of media including traditional bindery materials, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculptural casting and filmmaking.
"Orange Rumba" 2012, A short film made of a book intervention, first public screening given at The Artists' Book Market at BALTIC, Newcastle, UK (December 2014) in the cinema space.
