Join eminent Australian film director Bruce Beresford to hear insights into his idiosyncratic art collection, revealing his fascination with visual composition and narrative content.
Well-known Australian artists such as Jeffrey Smart and George W Lambert feature in his collection alongside international artists Frank Brangwyn, Gaston Frank de Craecke, Mary Haley and others. Traversing a range of topics, Beresford will share how powerful exhibitions, the influence of artist friends, and chance discoveries in artworks continue to be sources of inspiration.
Beresford's oeuvre includes the critically acclaimed Mao's Last Dancer, Black Robe and Breaker Morant, and Australian cult classics such as The Adventures of Barry Mackenzie, Don's Party and Puberty Blues. Driving Miss Daisy won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1990. Mr Church, starring Eddie Murphy, is Beresford's latest work and is due for release in September.
