Debra Beattie at the Forgotten Lives/Biographies Symposium

GCCAR member Film School researcher Debra Beattie gave a presentation – Gender Disruption in the Life and Times of Daphne Mayo – at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) last week. The Forgotten Lives/Biographies Symposium was hosted by USQ’s School of Arts & Communication. The Symposium aimed to encourage research, innovation and collaboration by bringing together academics within and outside the USQ whose research focuses on historic figures who have been largely neglected by history and/or forgotten over time. The question of how to recover, reclaim or retell the histories and stories of those obscured by the passage of time and/or neglected in historic and academic discourse is one of growing public and scholarly interest.
