abbe events by
Dr Lynn Ashby delivering a keynote address at abbe 2015.
The terms ‘post literacy’ and ‘the haptic’, adopted from fields that have established critical languages, were chosen to shape the proceedings at abbe in 2015. With participation from the editors of two prominent journals as well as leading Australian artists and scholars in the field, abbe 2015 lays groundwork for an ongoing engagement of antipodean artists and scholars with artists books. Selected papers from the conference will subsequently be published in an Australian volume of JAB The Journal of Artists’ Books.
The conference was supported by an artists book fair, by exhibitions that put on show a diverse range of books being made in Australia and a tour of significant artists book locations in Brisbane.
Keynote speakers at abbe 2015 were:
Senior research fellow for artists books, Centre for Fine Print Research, UK
Editor, The Blue Notebook
Artist, Founder and editor in chief, The Journal of Artists Books
